BreatheCheck carries no advertising, no affiliate links, no subscriptions and no sponsored
placements. Nothing on this site earns money, and that is a deliberate choice with a practical
consequence attached.

## Why there is nothing to disclose

**We don't sell anything, and we don't take a cut when you buy something.** Where a page suggests
a portable HEPA unit or a Corsi-Rosenthal box, that is the guidance the community data supports —
not a product we are paid to name. We have never tested a purifier and we don't claim to.

That matters more here than on most sites. The market leader on city air-quality searches also
manufactures air purifiers. Being able to say plainly that we sell nothing is the difference
between a verdict and a sales pitch.

## The practical reason

**Our air-quality data comes partly from Open-Meteo's free tier, which is licensed for
non-commercial use — no ads, no subscriptions.** Running affiliate links would make this a
commercial project and would put us outside those terms. We would rather be honest about the
funding than quietly break a licence we depend on.

## What changes when traffic arrives

When the site carries enough traffic to justify it, the plan is to pay for what we use first and
monetise second — a commercial Open-Meteo plan starts at €29 a month for a million calls. If and
when any monetisation appears, it will be disclosed on this page before it ships, not after.

## What we will never do

Sell your email. Accept payment to change a verdict or a threshold. Present a paid placement as a
recommendation. Claim to have tested equipment we have not tested.
